Republic Open Shuttle

ROS' were made in the later months of the Clone Wars. They had open hatches in the troop carrier section, meaning they couldn't go into space. 1 pilot and 1 gunner were needed to pilot this craft. The troop area could hold up to 6 troopers/people. On the bottom, Rogs sported a anti-vehicle missile turret. Because of the open space, troopers could just shoot at passing Battle Droids. These units were escorted into th eplanet, then were deployed. At the beginning of a battle, locals reported many fast blurs of... things shooting out from massive destroyers. After the declaration of the Empire, these units were rarely seen, however, General Han Solo was seen using one to escort Renegade Squadron to their Base.

These pilots were trained specifically on how to keep the ship steady. If they tilted too much, the crew would fall out.


The gunner. He controls the Anti-Vehicle Cannon on the bootom of the cockpit.


The Troop Holding Area. On the bottom of their feet, there are electro-binders that prevent them from falling out.

I like it a bit, but it could have been done better. C&CC welcome!

I have to be honest, I don't like it. Its too thin, lacking that oomph/drive, mixed colour scheme (I guess its made from V-Wing and ARC-170 pieces, but thats not the point), cockpits open.

I'd say to improve:

Less Colours; Maybe just Dark Red & White?
Seats for the Troopers; Not nessicary, just an addition to make it "more".
Sealed Cockpit; If you remake the model, maybe make it even bigger and have a Imperial Shuttle style cockpit, but if not just a better cockpit floor can make a world of difference.
1st Person Cited Gunner; As said above if your really going to do this then maybe you could even make the gunner below the ship so he can literally see the gun, less response time between pressing fire
Higher Walls; Make the walls a bit taller, maybe if you want to keep to the "open" style, just one brick higher.
Higher consistancy of the same part; If your making a wall going in a straight line, use the same part in the same colour for that line.
Wings; Make the wings thicker, not just adding plates for decoration, add them for purpose, add guns.

You have to admit, the body looks a LITTLE dull. But i wouldn't be able do do any better since i'm not able to destroy some of my ships to make mocs or buy some pieces off of bricklink... -_-

Yeah, it's a little too blocky. I think it needs to be softened up a little. Add some more pieces, and throw in some lighter colors.

Anyways, this thing will only be seen when dropping things off... its not like its going to have a Moc dedicated to it

There's lots of little issues in the close up pictures but the ship looks great in the battle scene picture.

Pretty nice. Less colors though.

Exactly, thats the point of this little thingamabob. The thing is, 25% of the time, they get shot down.

??? Are you asking for details on what I think you could do to improve it?

Remember posting MOC's is about getting feedback on how to be better. So if only one person has something bad to say about it then there's probably nothing wrong with it. But if 75% say you should change something then it means in a contest it would lose based on those following reasons...

Remember criticism (both positive and negative) is good if you use it to make your builds better. I enjoy criticism because it’s the best feedback I get on getting better. When everyone says, “Awesome, great, etc!” I don’t get better.

It's cool, but not as cool as some of your other work. The battle scene is pretty sweet!

Well Ill see what I can do... I moved the turret onto the back, lowered the engine (thinkin of changing it to black, and I probably wont post pics but you'll see it whenever they get dropped off. By the way, what should I add for the wings?

What you're changing sounds good. For the wings I'm not sure, just play around with different designs. I would throw some Republic Insignia on there though. Every vehicle could use a little Open Circle Fleet or Galactic Republic piece!

Yeah, i think I have a spare Insignia somewhere around my house... (Goes off to find it)

Now, this is a good idea and it COULD be improved EVER so SLIGHTLY.

It could be a little wider, with the wings being a little thinner. They make it look balanced, but I think they make it look a little ungainly, if you ask me.

I'd also suggest adding some defense guns on board. Think of a Black Hawk Helicopter but with an open roof and the flying abilities of the Star Wars universe(referencing the lack of a propeller ).

So some minigun like weapons and possibly a wider body. The cockpit is OK, in my opinion.

I'm not gonna go into detail about little bits and pieces, so I'll leave my thoughts there.

I like it, 80-0 basically summed up my thoughts on it.

Im thinkin of adding auto turrets to the things on the tip of the wing. Y'know the hook pieces near the cockpit?

Nah I decided to move it to the back, it might scar ethe pilot if he though it was an explosion on the ship.
