Re: A Guide For Decals
I have 15 sheets of decal paper from Tango Papa Decals. I want to print them and says use laserjet printers, but my computer teacher says the stuff will melt and use an ink jet which it says don't use. What should I do?

Does it say 'laser decals' on the back or in the order description?
If so, use laser printers. If not, inkjet. It's really that simple.

Well on their website and with the order sheet it says user laserjet printer but my computer teacher says it will melt it and use and inkjet. It says dont use an inkjet.

Based on the balance of probability, I'd say use Laserjet. The decal paper people do their stuff for a hobby and a business, and so they probably have a more expert opinion...

What is the title of this thread? "A Guide for Making Custom Decals". Type "Decals" in search area and I think you'll find the thread you're looking for.

Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
I learned form a frined, that water-slide decals are hard, but what he does is:
Puts them in water, lets them dry, applies them to the minifigure, then sprays them.

Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Customizer, I dont think that would work too well with curved pieces like the helmet and arms. It might work great for the body though.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Sounds good to me. I might give it a go myself, as it could solve some problems with my current method and make the method more exact.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Let them dry? They're a lot more manueverable when they're wet, which is what I do. I let them dry after they've been applied to the figure. Is that a bad thing?
Is there a better or easier way to do this?

After I apply my decal's. I take a hair dryer and smooth out any airbubble's.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
you know... I dont know if im doing something write or wrong but the 2 decals i applied i didnt have air bubbles... do you apply the decals on a dry surface or wet? I have this liquid that makes it a little easier to apply.

That sounds like decal softener or decal fix. Apparently using that does make it easier to apply, and make it look better; you're right.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Is there a difference between a decal softner and a decal fix? Currently its in another room but I think its the decal fix. I want to get decal softner just don't know the best type or where to get it. I hadn't had the time to research it yet either.
From what I remember/know the softner is applied afterwards? And you can't touch it at all until dries?

Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Yep, I think that's right. But I don't know where getting it in America is good, sorry.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
You could get it at Hobbytown or Hobby Lobby, they usually have decal stuff.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
Thanks. I found something on that site called decal set. Is that the same thing? Does decal softner come under different names? I am trying to find the best way to do the legs and I think that is my missing ingredient. I do the sanding under the belt area. But the tight fit still makes me feel that its going to peel off eventually.
Re: A Guide for Making Custom Decals
I find, with my decals, that you don't need a decal softener. Mine go on fine with pure application, but that's just in my case. A decal softener would probably be good for helmet and leg decals though.
BTW, I'm that friend that customizer mentioned.
