UCS Juggernaught WIP

Post by brickartist on Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:14 pm

Hello ladies and gentlemen! I'm currently working on a SNOT UCS CTT. I've got the framework in there, I'm MODing the side armor, so no comments about how it's inaccurate.

Here it is:

This is quite a project brickartist! I look forward to see how this turns out. Any plans for an interior, or motorized wheels? Smile

I plan to make a semi-accurate interior. I hadn't though about motorized wheels, maybe. Once I get further into designing the bottom, I'll access weather it's fit for PF. Smile

I've decided against PF Sad There really isn't a place to put the motor without significantly compromising my interior plans. I hope what I come up for the inside will compensate for the distinct lack of PF.

Thanks Lazer!

I'll have another update up either tonight, or tomorrow. Smile

I'll try to take some nicer ones, those were quick WIP shots, with a crappy light source. Mad Anyways, it'll be a bit before I make a ton of significant progress, still acquiring more parts. Smile

Man this looks like it's going to be huge! I'm just wondering how you're going to make the wheels though, do you have any ideas on how you're going to do that? Wink Smile

@ Daisy- This is the wheel technique I'll be using. The designer a cool guy, and let me use his design. Except every three minifig stands there will be a 4x8 black segment, to beef up the wheels a bit.

@ Rabid- Thanks! I'll probably PM you, that would be awesome!

@ 253- Heh, maybe in two weeks, on the fast side. It's coming along though. The frame work is done, so all I have to do is finish some armor sections, the interior, build wheels, and install the rest of the PF(!!). Uff duh, big list Hola Wow! Anyways, you should totally do your own model! Even if it's midi scale! Everybody has the talent to make vehicles like this, no matter what. If you want too, PM me and I could help you develop your model step by step Smile

I was hoping you would make a UCS Turbo Tank, a big tank in a big scale, it seems so fitting. Razz

Wow, thanks Brickartist! And hey everyone, nobody has ever built a UCS turbo tank. If you want to see the biggest I know, go tho MOCpages and search for ''motorized clone turbo tank'' or something. Will get you a nice video of the tank. Maybe some inspiration! But event that ENORMOUS tank is still not true minifigure scale!

Well, that's debatable. I've seen those models. Atifex does a very nice job. I was talking about the size topic on another forum, and Wookiepedias dimensions are so often wrong. Some body told me 96 was about right, because that's the length of 2 RAGs. I will actually be extending mine by 8-10 studs soon. Also, UCS means 1:28 scale. So UCS scale, and minifig scale don't always occur at the same time. Smile

Thanks for the comments, guys! I restructured the side armor, and I'm actually making it about 4 bricks taller now. The bottom is a vast sea of technic, so hopefully the wheels cover up that. Placing a 50 dollar bricklink order today, so hopefully progress will be underway again when that arrives. The interior will feature the necessary power tubes to supply the weaponry on top, cockpits with controls, armory, small war room, AT-RT(Updated) storage area, BARC(Updated since last you saw it) storage area, and maybe a place for my latest ISP(Swamp Speeder) MOC Wow this thing looks

Wait are you talking about the speeder you posted a couple weeks ago. That wouldn't fit in there.

That link is directly to the tank I meant! But it's still not good scaled. On MOCpages, he also has an original Star Wars sketch of the turbo tank. Like blueprints, but then colored. And you can see it still needs to be bigger when you compare it. Take the clones on the sketch as a way to check the scale.

@CJ: The UCS? Laughing No, a couple minifig scale models.

@253D : He probably had sketches of the Juggernaut from ESB, originally sketches were made because they were going to include it on hoth. Sketches were made, there are significant sloping differences on the front end, so I don't hold those totally accountable.
The only Canon appearance of it was on an open beach where you have depth perception(You can't tell how far away Kashyyks are from the vehicles). Anyways, mines probably a bit under-scale. I'll have an update up as soon as I get a new camera card.

BTW Has anybody ever wondered how many Kashyyk troopers, and wookies got ran over in that battle by CTTs?

Brickartist, look at the number in this message, but turn your head from Wink to :0 so that's like 90 degrees. Here it comes, the number of wookies driven over by CTT's: 8 (now if you turn your head, you will see the eternity symbol, haha!)
