WIP Freebird~ Republic Squad d/t

Post by Green Tee on Sun Sep 12, 2010 1:15 pm

I'm working on a dropship/transport. It's going to be kind of a predeessor to the Imperial Shuttle, with snot wings, but a more curved body.
I've got the wings down (SNOT), but I'm stuck on the body. I've got a insertion ramp to get off (the gray large piece in the middle). I've got a little bit of start up pieces, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Embarassed

First WIP topic for the win!
UPDATE: This will be my final MOC for a while. It will take some time to build, with only weekends free. It should also be my largest creation to date.
UPDATE 2: Was trying to decide if I should show you guys my secret cockpit, and decided, what the heck, it's not really secret. Finished the 2 main engines and the base of the wings.
UPDATE 3: Looks kind of blockish, but looked worse with diagonal slope. Middle gray slab is opening ramp. Connecting part suggestions, comments, etc. REALLY needed. kthanxbai

Is this for the LSW"Forum" contest?

Looks good so far. IDK what you have in mind for it, but it looks good.

If you're going for a more "Republic" feel, change up the colors a bit. Bley + Grey is all great for imperial (and that's what you might be going for, not sure) but if you want the Predecessor/Republic/Light side of the force feel than dark red or other colors (Legion colors?) inserted as greebles or lines in parts of the MOC is a great add on.

Hey, CC's back! Wow this thing looks

A. Yes it's for the contest LB.
B. I will add more colors, CC. I plan a lot more white for the sides, and some d. red or yellow (legion) highlights on top of that.

Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, loving the cockpit! This ship's going great!

Have you tried using plates and clicky hinges for the back?

I too like the cockpit. I would suggest some sort of technic pieces.

On the back to do what?

BTW, any ideas opn how to attach either one or both engines and make it look like it's not attached by one measly stud?

You could try to layer plates to form an interlocking connection.

Didn't you write that you wanted a more curved back?

Bump: Someone reply!
Well, I'm not sure I can salvage this design. Structural failure is a big problem, it keeps falling apart. I'll be sure to salvage the cockpit design somewhat though. That's a must.
This thread isn't needed anymore, could someone lock it please?
