Darth Vader Mosaic - WIP - Updated 11/6/10

Post by Ruitath on Mon May 31, 2010 9:49 am

Here's one of my latest projects, a 96x64 Darth Vader Mosaic based on a magnet I got a Lego retail store a while back.

I'm kinda running out of basic black bricks (already!) so I need to go to bricklink soon. Wink Tell me what you think. (Sorry about the giant photo, I just posted the image from my flickr.)

Thanks,
Casey a.k.a. Ruitath

Sure! Here is the link. I scanned it on my computer, uploaded it to brickshelf, used the "Lugnet Mosaic Maker", edited the image for better quality in design, printed it out super big, made a big grid for it, and transferred the printed out dots to the grid outline. Now I'm putting the grid into bricks!

Thanks,

Saw this on CABG's Flickr. Can't wait to see this finished! I don't really like the white on the front of Darth Vader's torso. You should change it to light grey or even bley if you can. The white makes it look to bright. From the reference picture you can see the reflection behind his eye is white whereas the front of his torso is darker.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but I just don't have a large amount of grey (other wise I'd be making giant castles Smile ). I was also wanting to do those "lines" in the background of those two blue colors, but I don't have nearly enough bricks to support that either.

Man, I've gotta say, if you build this approximately a year ago, it would be on display at your local LEGO store. Even then, if you showed it to them, they might display it anyways. Wink

Alright, just put in my crackli-er... Bricklink order with the exact amount of stuff I need. Although the seller didn't have 17 pieces, but I think I can borrow those from a friend or something. I'll post another pic when the order comes though. Thanks for all the good feedback,

Yeah, I will! I'm having trouble making the "STAR WARS" in it right now. This picture is a bit old, but here's another update:
