Arc 170

Post by blackninjatom on Thu Nov 26, 2009 7:18 pm

This started as an ugly, but I got so hooked on the Arc 170 part that decided to make it in its entirety.

flickr page
The wings are pretty heavy and I can't find a way to attach the wings and engines. I may have to switch to a studs up design, but I wanted to try the snot designs out first. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking at the two UCS models on brickshelf (pepaquin and the other one) for inspiration and help, but I don't want to completely copy they're models.

Also the map tile on the nose will replaced by some custom made nose art. The rest of the colors will be corrected, and the remaining pieces bricklinked, once the design is finalized.

Again advice for attaching the wings would be very helpful.

I really like the part with the cockpit! For the wings, you could have the middle stick out and put the wings there. Good job so far though! Wink Smile

I made a huge amount of progress today, I changed the orientation of the studs to face forward, per suggestion from nnenn, and have successfully attached the wing to the body.

Looks good, but what's up with the world map tile on the front of the ARC-170?

The wings are really amazing, but the nose looks to fat.

This now looks really good, except that I don't really like that part in the middle where the astromech is. Wink

You might want to look into lengthening the cockpit area. I believe it should be about as long as the wings, or longer. But it's great anyhow, I've never seen so much SNOT on a ship. Razz

Actually because the wings are so darn long, the fuselage is quite a bit shorter than the wingspan. I hadn't seen many custom built arc 170s, and they all had a lot of studs. No offense to Pepa Quin, but that was the main thing I wanted to do differently.

Also it is a wip so expect to see some strange pieces and colors before I finish the design. But as of now the blue has been removed.
