You made that... a brush? Why would you do that when you can just put text on your image..

I still can't get that glowing look for my lightsabers. Can someone help me please? I've used every tutorial posted here and I still can't get it quite right.

Post what you think is your best and maybe I can see where you're going wrong. What program are you using?

Probably my best, but it still turns out with a white block in the middle.
This is using Sial's tutorial from earlier in the thread.

Well I use Sail's tutorial and it's the best. Smile Well did you make 3 layer's then use a 5 Gaussian blur on the frist layer then on the seconded layer use 20 Gaussian blur and then the last layer use a 40 Gaussian blur but only use color balance for the last and maybe the seconded. Wink That's how I do my lightsabers.

So you use GIMP? And you want there to be more distinction between the blades where they intersect?

First, I recommend getting Paint.NET if you haven't already. GIMP is better for lighting effects, fading, etc. in my opinion, while Paint.NET has quick loading times and it's easier to make 'sabers quickly. It's what I used for the 'saber in my picture at the top of the last page. Second, here's my tutorial:

1) Open the image into Paint.NET.

2) Create a new layer (Automatically named 'Layer 2'). Press F4 to enter the layer properties dialogue and change the mode to 'Screen.'

3) Duplicate Layer 2 three times.

4) On the second Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 10. On the third Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 20. On the fourth Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 30. (Via Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur)

5) Merge the fourth, third, and second Layer 2's into one layer (Ctrl+M).

6) Select the Recolor tool, and set your primary color to the color you want (red, blue, green, etc.). Set your secondary color to white.

7) On the top Layer 2, use the recolor tool on the blurred part.

8) Click the first Layer 2, and apply a Gaussian blur of either 1 or 2 (It's really up to your preference).

9) Merge all the layers into one.

If you need any of the steps explained more, just ask (Or if you don't want PDN, then hopefully this'll help someone else).

I really cannot elaborate very well. Embarassed Yes, I use GIMP, and I usually don't get the color balance to look right. I'll get Paint.net to see how it works. Thanks SithFilmer. Also, all I want is to be able to have the blade look like it's producing light, like one of Sial's or Zepher's lightsbaers in their comics. I've used TB's and Sial's lightsaber tutorials, and yet they still don't work just right for me.

That's because you have to modify, we all use variations, and yours are simply too blocky.
