I really am not an expert on this, so don't trust my no-doubt faulty judgment, but I think you can get it at GIMP.com. I'm probably horribly wrong though.

Ok so I need a wee bit of help. I am planing on making a scene in my comic with a pod streaking through the atmosphere but I need some help giving it the burning up look. And tips/ideas/references would be awesome. Also a good way to make a impact with smoke ect would be awesome. Thanks.

And if someone could please tell me how the smoke and fire like stuff on the top of the door is done that would be awesome.

Edited so the picture is visible. Always have the URL ending with ".jpg"
