Yep. I totally agree. It's worth it. Not only in $$$ but in time that it saves removing the bricks.

Guitar plectrum. Works almost every time and is extremly useful and cheap. I suggest getting a thin and strong one.

I have an assorsement of slightly damaged bricks, so they stick harder. When this happens, and I don't want to drown my LEGO in spit, I grab one, stick it on the peice that refuses to come off, then give a sharp yank. Then it's the the process of breaking them apart.

Needle nose pliers work, I also use screw drivers (the one that are like -, not + on the tip), and occasionaly a wrench comes in handy. when all else fails, I pry them apart with a steak knife.

Whenever I want to get peices off of a plate, I just dropkick the plate.(on the bottom side of course) But the last time I did that, bricks went flying at my mom like a shotgun... Embarassed

You hold the plate in the air, right? You'd have to have good aim if you were to toss it.

Brick seperators are awesome, and can be handily transformed into walruses, which is always a bonus.

What I usually to is but a second brick on top and then push the brick (from the side) off the plate.

Just get a brick separator, it saves you time a good bit of time instead of wasting it on gnawing on bricks. Razz

I never have trouble getting large plates apart, I just slide my nail under it, but for the small ones like 1x2 plates, I put stick them to the bottom of this piece, and they come apart easily when pushed back.

well other than using the brick remover, which is the best option, i would say using a swiss army knife or a chisel type tool to get underneath it
then you can use your fingernails easily to get into the space made by the chisel
