Omega Squad WIP UPDATE 1!

Post by PizzaMovies on Mon Apr 06, 2009 5:04 pm

Okay, I've been working on an Omega squad for a while, and thanks to CG for the awesome decals and clonefactory for the awesome helmets I can finally begin hard work on them!

And here's what I got so far!

As you can see I haven't even finished one, that's why it's a WIP, and I was gonna ask how I would go about coloring in the visors, and getting one of those helmets black.

If you know how to do those without ruining the helmets PLEASE help me out a bit! Thanks! C&C welcome! Smile

Hmm...... I think they look nice so far, but to paint a helmet ALL black. I use Tymia Acrylic paint to paint my clones, but on a whole helmet. Thats hard. I don't know what Spray paint would look like. I will keep thinking of ideas.

I use spraypaint for large amounts of paint, if I'm just doing small amounts I Sharpie.

They look pretty good so far Wink. I used sort of a glossy acrylic for these helmets at home. I would recommend that.

Pizza, there are several options:
1. Use Black sharpie. This has been done before successfully and leaves only a thin layer of residue unlike paint, however several coats will probably have to be applied to cover all of the white and streaks.
2. Use black paint. Others have used paint before successfully, however it's very thick often times and you might find yourself with lumps and you will probably be dis-satisfied.
3. Use spray-paint. This will be a much more uniform layer and will probably be the most effective way of turning a white helmet black, though you may have some problems with the inside where it connects to the head.
4. Have a black commando helmet custom molded. Wuzzupbob has CC casts and has casted black CC helmets before. If you're willing to pay about $10 total for casting and shipping and he's feeling extra nice, he might give you the favor. Smile

Wow, CC! That really helped! I'll probably go with the spray paint (due to having a few cans in a shed out back), but really, THANKS! I'll post updates in a couple of days! Smile

Uhh...Don't quote me on any of that because I haven't personally done any of those things. Laughing I'm just picking things out of my head that I've seen done in the past by other people, and using my knowledge (which is actually somewhat limited) of various products vs. the results of said products on an object such as a helmet. Smile

Well, not much to comment on so far. . .Oh, did you get the helmets from CF?

If so, how much did they cost?

I got them from CF and I paid like $19 for shipping and everything I think...don't remember the exact number....

@TB: I'm gonna use black spray paint for that one helmet but blue sharpie on the visors! Smile

Ah..

I didn't know you were using closed visor helmets!

I would have given you this decal for the helmets, if I'd known! Wink

But yeah! Looking very good!

As to the helmet; I would suggest paint. Acrylic Spray paint, I think, might work.
