Outrider WIP

Post by pdragon27 on Fri Feb 06, 2009 4:23 pm

Well, I've decided to scrap my Pursuer-class and make an Outrider for my sig-fig (Which I'm also redo-ing). It won't be minifig scale.. more like half minifig scale...
I'm planning on making the circle part like the UCS Falcon, with the opening top pieces. But, the problem is I want the bottom to be "sloped" the same way, but I also want a ramp for my fig to walk on to get in and out of his ship. How should I go about this? BTW, the circle will actually be an octagon with each side measuring 16 studs.

Well, like you said, do it like the Falcon. For the ramp, just leave a gap in one side of the octagon - of course, we'd need to see actual pictures of the Outrider to give you tips on the ramp mechanism itself.

Thanks. But should I go about the cockpit? What kind of piece should I use?

Judging by this picture, you could use a plain version of the RGS wing turret-bubble-things.

Meh. I want it to have more of a Falcon-esque feel to it... so maybe a falcon cockpit? But the probelm its I can't seem to find it on Bricklink... Also, Should I make the Escape pod detachable?

Do you have any ideas for how to make the engine? I'm thinking of using flat trans-blue 2x2's but that might take to many...

No... I don't know how that'd work out... I think I'll stick with the flat trans pieces...

Okay. BrickLink or PaB? Or do you magically have enough pieces? Wink

I'll probably do Bricklink.... How tall should the frame for the octagon be?

'Bout this big? Wink

Not sure, just big enough to fit minifigs. 3-4 bricks?

Ok, to hold the plates on top to make the "sloping" effect, should I use this piece:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60470
or this piece:
Sorry, can't find it on bricklink, but its the piece that is used normally to open cockpits and stuff...

Interesting, some Mars Misssion "Alien Starfighter" pieces would be good for that. Wink
