Republic Commando Minifigure...

Post by Chaotic Good on Sun Feb 01, 2009 10:10 am

Having delayed for as long as possible, I've finally shared my Commando. He has custom decals and a modified helmet.

Torso decal inspired by Wuzzupbob, Kam, and Vidgamer.

Bonus Photoshop pic.

Not bad at all! I like the Photoshop'd pic, especially the quote you chose. Wink

I actually cleaned up a few spots in Photoshop - I couldn't remove one annoying spot otherwise. I tried it with a pencil eraser and some Brasso after the picture was taken, and finally removed it.

And thanks!

I tried many techniques; all of them were either too big or too complicated. I saw this technique somewhere, and decided to go for the simple technique.

Perhaps paint four of these white and put them on each end?

Pretty nice, save for the lack of a 'moustache' decal and the fact that some of the detail on the arms is a bit grainy. I personally wouldn't have chopped up the old, rare EpII helmet, but that's just me.

For some reason it seems everyone's doing commandos recently! Laughing I'd better get a move on if I want to jump on this bandwagon...

I know. I regret chopping it very badly, but since I had another two I decided I might as well do it. The arm decals are grainy because they came from a bad decal batch, but they nonetheless applied well, so I kept them.

I tried most of the decals I had; none of them applied well or were right, so I left it blank.

Saw this on Flickr!

I think it's great! Though I agree with Jinja/DP it needs some mouth decal...

Also, when I made my commandos, someone on my Flickr commented that commandos do have a distinct chin piece!

Yes, you should it is way to small. I was just playing the Republic Commando's and that is really small, but other than that it is super. Blue Arc

That will look really cool if you make the backpack bigger, wash the helmet, and put decals on the helmet.
