Custom Cast (Kama - Pauldron)

Post by clonefactory on Sat Jan 24, 2009 11:23 pm

I have been playing with this for a while now. I wanted to add a custom to the new Lego Kama and pauldrons' that are offered.

First I simply attempted to paint a trim on these items but because of the type of plastic used, the trim rubbed off very easily.

Then I thought if I cast my own out of resin that the color will take easier. I am still working on that but I figured a different customization angle.

Colored Kama & Pauldron

This would be my closest match to Dk Red. If the idea takes I think I will try the CW blue and yellow as well.

Is this a sellable commodity?

Bad idea, these things are already bad, and they don't work well with the figs themselves, cloth is the way to go.. but if people will buy these...

I kinda agree with Uber, cloth is the way to go...

BUT! Alot of people prefer this plastic stuff (no idea why) so as long as it sells, you're good! Wink

They both have their strong and weak points. Just make a few, and if they sell make some more.

I think they look cool, and might buy IF... there was a way to make them two different colors. Like grey on the part where it's supposed to be grey, then the color where there's color. Wink

Very good, but I'm a fan of cloth kamas and pauldrons.

Now if you made some caplet casts, I would get those in a heartbeat! Surprised

I think that's only possible with paint or glue. Wink

Not necessarily. It could be done with casting, but it would require additional molds and alot more time, effort and mucking around. Not really worth it for the end result.

Precisely... you COULD make the pauldron into a two part that would connect after casting but it would cost much more than $3-$5 but it would look cool. Razz
