DY, what's the state of this? Have you removed the rear cockpit yet? I'd also take that idea for the turret; all you need are three 1x2x1 tiles, a studs-downwardfacing magnet clip, a 1x1x1sm brick, and a 1x1 upward clip with a handlebar attached.

Very cool idea with the magnets. I could have used that on my K-Wing.
